7 Easy and Affordable Ways to Brand Your Business Packaging

Done wrong, packaging can be expensive and is hardly noticed. Done right, it’s a powerful tool used to distribute and promote your brand. Custom packaging makes a good first impression and well-designed extras like business cards or flyers may be kept, reminding customers to come back. It will make you look more professional and polished – suggesting you put that extra effort into everything you do. Check out these seven easy and affordable ways to brand your business packaging.

1. The two things that people look for when they get a package is the product they ordered and its receipt. An easy way to make the most of your internal packaging is by making the receipt more special by adding a personal message and thank you. Also remember to pop in your business card or flyer, perhaps with a discount for a future purchase. Simple extras like this can do wonders for building goodwill and improving your brand.

2. Rubber stamps are a great way to add your brand to plain packaging, quickly. They will keep your branding consistent but without the need to pay for bulk printed materials. It can also can give your wrapping a more homemade look. Café owners could stamp their paper coffee cups, shops paper gift bags or card designers can add their logo by stamping the back of each card. If you bake and sell sweet treats, why not stamp plain gift tags to label your goodies.

3. Do you sell small, high quality products that deserve great looking packaging? If your customers are spending that little bit more on your goods, it makes a difference to present them properly. Rather than basic boxes, custom favour boxes or bags are great way to package homemade sweets, soaps and jewellery without spending a fortune.

Paper Bags for Businesses

4. Stickers or labels customised with your logo or business name can really make your brand stick. Add to external packing to brighten up boring brown boxes and even catch the attention of the delivery guy. Use them to seal envelopes, wrapping paper or paper bags for a practical but pretty finishing touch. You could even include a few unused stickers in your packages for customers to spread the word.

Business Stickers

5. Wow them with your wrapping! Extra-special wrapping paper shows thought and attention to detail and makes the arrival of your product more of an event (perhaps even an unboxing). If you have company colours, make your wrap match, or even print your own wrapping paper with your logo. Use custom tissue paper to wrap more delicate items or to stuff in gift bags. For a final flourish, you could even add ribbon.

6. If you sell in a shop or on a stall, why not pop your products in branded re-usable bags or totes? Not only will this demonstrate you’re environmentally conscientious, but your customers may use their bags for their own shopping too, showing off your brand to the world! With most supermarkets charging for plastic bags today, your bag is bound to be put to good use.

Goodie Bag Tote Bags

7. Don’t underestimate the power of swag. Throwing in fun items like badges, magnets, pens, key rings or even clothing will put your customers in a good mood – who doesn’t love a freebie! Brand yours with your logo and hopefully your customers will remember you every time they open the fridge or grab their car keys. Items like this are often shared, spreading the word even further. Try to pick swag that suits your customers. For example, other businesses may use Post-it® Notes, whereas fashion fans may prefer a tote bag.

Wall Art Ideas: Poster Pairs

Are you staring at a blank wall, wondering how to spruce up your space? Is it a bit big for just one piece of art? There are plenty of wall art ideas to try out online, but if that intricate gallery wall looks too much of a puzzle, consider a poster pair.

Pairing posters and prints might sound easy, however once you dive in and start looking at the infinite number of designs available, the task can quickly become overwhelming. Where do I start? What colours should I choose? What is going to look good together? Before you jump in with both feet, take a moment to step back and think about your space and what would best fit.

Here are our tips and wall decor ideas with poster pairs.

Recurring Colours

A good place to start with any home decor project is with colour. Picking two posters with the same main background colour is always a safe bet. These vintage Rio and Japan posters designed by the same artist work together beautifully.

Rio Vintage Travel Poster & Japan Vintage Travel Poster

Complimentary Colours

While choosing similar hues is an easy way to start, putting complimentary colours next to each other still creates harmony but also some nice variation. Consider pairing red and green, blue and orange, purple and yellow or, of course, black and white. This yellow and teal abstract duo really pop as a pair.

Blue and Yellow Abstract Poster Pairs

Opposites Attract

Sometimes creating a contrasting image is the way to go! Explore different poster combinations like light vs. dark, rugged vs. feminine, bright vs. muted, city vs. country, hot vs. cold etc. For example, we found this same beach scene at sunrise and under moonlight.

Night and Day Beach Posters Pair

All Shapes & Sizes

Add an interesting element to the room by offsetting your posters with different sizes and shapes.  You can even tell a story with your sizes and placement of your wall prints. We love this palm tree and wave print for an exotic vibe.

Palm Tree and Ocean Wave Beach Posters
Tell A Story

Related images that tell a story add more interest to your wall art. For example, break a picture in two and put them side by side, or show a view of the past transforming into the now. Other clever pairings include an image and a related quote, or a city landscape and a map of that city, like this map and photograph of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Pick a Theme

Do you like flowers? Travel? Inspirational quotes? Architecture? Try to mirror the theme of your room and your personality with the wall décor. Repeat colours, plants or knick-knacks that appear in the room or the rest of your home. This travel quote print and watercolour map poster are perfect for globetrotters.

Travel Posters

Repeating Lines & Patterns

Complimentary posters often contain lines or patterns that flow from one poster to the next. Experiment with continuing artificial background patterns or find some naturally occurring lines in nature or architecture, like this spiral staircase and abstract ink pattern.

black and white spiral posters

Keep It Simple

Turning a blank wall into an interesting feature doesn’t mean putting the most complicated thing up there. Sometimes the solution is just to K.I.S.S. it! Pick two prints you like – sometimes that’s only the connection you need.

Educate the Room

Educational posters aren’t just for the classroom! Adding related framed scientific, literary or historical print to a room is great conversation starter, can display your interests and are often visually attractive. This Nietzsche quote and Circle of Fifths poster make the perfect match for musicians.

Motivational Quotes to Get You Through the Working Week

‘Working 9 to 5, trying hard to make a living’ We get it. From boardroom to break room, the in and out of working life can be stressful. So we’re putting together a kick-ass list of motivational quotes for work that are not only going to see you get through the working week but see you excel and succeed when doing so. There’s nothing better than a bit of inspirational typography. Ohhh yes!

  • ‘The best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today’ – Elbert Hubbard

Shake off the weekend and roll up your sleeves. This is the perfect Monday motivational quote to get you pumped for a long week to come. A little extra java in your coffee mug wouldn’t hurt also!

  • ‘Start by doing what’s necessary, then what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.’ – St. Francis

Alright, it’s still Monday. You’re looking for some more uplifting and inspirational quotes. Are you still stuck on the ‘what’s necessary’ stage? No more. Aim higher because you’ve got this!

  • ‘Power means happiness; power means hard work and sacrifice’ – Beyonce

Oh my god; Tuesdays can be even worse than Monday. Power through with some Beyonce. If anyone knows what’s what then it’s her. Maybe fire on some Spotify on the sly (you know you want to). A quote for work and for getting things done. All the single ladies… Damn, now it’s in my head too.

  • ‘Things don’t have to change the world to be important.’ – Steve Jobs

I cannot stress this enough! Refill the printer, greet that client or crunch the numbers; whatever it takes. It’s Tuesday, what else are you going to do?

  • ‘My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.’ – Maya Angelou

I’m sorry Maya, our Wednesday inspirational focus was still on survival but we can see the faint glimmer of light that is the weekend on the horizon. Here’s a positive quote that’s really going to add some bounce to your step around the office.

  • ‘There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.’ – Beverly Sills

So the last one wasn’t enough? That’s O.K. I’ve been there too and Wednesday can be cruel. Breathe deep and repeat this… you will make it though. Half-way to Friday. Half-way to Friday.

  • ‘I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.’ – Thomas Edison

Whoop! You’ve been crushing it all week. This inspirational quote is all about measuring success. So if your boss comes in looking for results… you’ve got just the spin to turn his frown upside down! This is both uplifting and a funny motivational quote that will add some levity to any office space.

  • ‘Things don’t have to change the world to be important.’ – Steve Jobs

A feel good quote that is sure to make you realize that it’s all worth it in the end. Hard work pays off!

  • ‘Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.’ – Albert Einstein

You don’t need to be an amazing physicist to see the future here. One word: ‘Weekend’ and it is only hours away. Good for any time of the week; this is a goal orientated message that is sure to inspire success.

The perfect Friday feeling quote. You’re going out of the office with a bang. You’ve worked hard, now play harder. Take control and push forward!

So you’ve made it and that’s another week down. I hope this has been the inspiration you needed to break through this working week (it certainly helped me with mine). You can thank me when you hit the big time.

How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

So, one week in to 2018, how are those New Year’s resolutions ideas going? The bad news is that more than half of them fail, but they don’t have to be yours! If you wanted to exercise more, eat healthily, learn something new or cut down on bad habits, our top tips will help you to stay on track (at least to the end of January…).

1. Focus on just a small number of things, ideally just the one. Trying to change too much at once is a recipe for failure. Don’t even think of it as one big resolution – more of a New Year’s plan, then you can start small and work your way up. If you plan to exercise more, just focus on certain days a week; if you’re planning on giving something up, cut down by X% then more gradually; if you want to travel more, why not start closer to home? Small steps make big changes.

2. Write it down. It’s important to clearly define your goal and list the reasons why you’re doing it, and break down bigger goals into smaller targets. Writing these thoughts down as a New Year’s resolution list gives you something to refer back to. Equally, why not start a journal and to write about your progress, your setbacks and achievements, no matter how big or small. Treat yourself to some inspiring new stationery like custom post it notes or notepads and calendars to keep your scribbles all in one place.

3. Make it public. You don’t have to tell the world, but telling people what you’re trying to achieve can be helpful. Not only can they offer support in times of need, but they can give you that extra bit of drive and motivation. Those raised eyebrows when you try to sneak in an extra Malteser can make you think twice… Just never lose focus that you’re doing whatever you’re doing primarily for you.

4. Reward yourself, especially during those hard first few days, but then you can make it weekly, monthly and finally reward yourself for your year milestone. Treat yourself with a trip to the cinema, some new clothes or a meal at your favourite restaurant.

5. Inspire yourself with New Year’s resolutions quotes. Inspiration can be hard to come, so it’s important to surround yourself with things that will keep you positive, hopeful and driven. Zazzle has a selection of inspirational posters, mugs and clothing that can give you the edge you need on the days you just don’t feel up to it.

6. Don’t be too hard on yourself. There will be setbacks, you won’t make your weekly target, you’ll lapse, you’ll give in and you’ll give up. Understanding this before starting will help you react positively when there is a setback. There’s always time to bounce back on track, even you go off the rails for weeks.

7. Knowing when to call it quits. Sometimes we’re doing things for the wrong reasons. If you so much as get a hint of this go back to the list you made at the start. Maybe your reasons for doing the resolution have changed, or maybe you’ve even completed them. Sometimes calling it quits is the best thing to do.

New Year goals are tough work and not many people can complete them, but by following the steps above and staying positive no matter what will go a long way in realising your resolution!

How To Design Business Cards: 6 Top Tips

In the age of LinkedIn, smart phones and social media it has become easier than ever to connect with people online. But whereas a website or social media account can be easily forgotten, effective business cards offer a tangible representation of you and your business. If you haven’t got cards you are proud to hand out, you’re missing out on big opportunities.

Not all cards are created equal, however. Your business card design reflects your own personal brand and getting it right is one of the most crucial and cost-effective marketing strategies. Getting it wrong, can have the opposite effect. You don’t want to be remembered as the person with cheap-looking, flimsy cards, do you?

This little card is the face of your company and a creative representation of your business. So here are our top 6 business card design tips.

1. Be On Brand

If you have company colours, use them. If not, make sure the look of your card matches your industry and brand and don’t just follow your own personal taste. Creative industries might go bold with bright colours, fun patterns and trendy designs to look fresh and original. However, don’t under-estimate the power of simplicity. Some of best examples of good business cards are often the plainest – soft colours or pure black and white. Minimalist business cards can look more stylish and professional, especially for traditional industries that want to inspire trust.

2. Less is More

Potential clients will spend a maximum of five seconds glancing at your business card so you don’t want to overwhelm them with information. Those five seconds should only be spent answering basic questions: who, what, why and where. Don’t squeeze in absolutely everything, including all your social media accounts, in tiny text. Also avoid obscuring the details with a poorly chosen font. Steer clear of italics and cursive styles and choose easy-to-read text in a traditional size.

3. Impress With Paper

A cheap or thin looking card may have leave prospective clients questioning the quality of your services. Premium paper and finishes make your cards more tactile and memorable. Zazzle has an array of paper types including simple matte and gloss, but also textured linen, shimmering pearl and even a beautifully soft silk, all offering a sophisticated and unique finish. However, always consider brand and audience when picking your paper. It makes sense for a luxury company to go for a fancy paper, but more simple businesses may want to opt for something fuss-free to stay on brand.

4. Shape Up

An easy way to make your card unique is to choose more unusual shapes and sizes. Rather than the regular rectangle, why not opt for square business cards or mighty or mini sizes that will immediately stand out from the pack. You might consider folded business cards too. These shapes may need a more specific design attention to fit the unusual space, but when done well, look modern and marvellous.

5. Cut The Clip Art

While clip arts may be colourful and funny they can look unprofessional. A random photo of a puppy may be cute, but it has no place on a business card, unless you are either a vet, dog walker or pet shop owner. If you don’t have a company logo or in-house graphic designer, choose from Zazzle’s professionally designed templates or stick to a text only design.

6. Make It Stick

The problem with paper is that it’s everywhere and may be filed away or, worse again, recycled. Avoid the back of the wallet or bin by making your card useful and visible. Magnetic business cards offer function as well as form by being a handy way to pin up notes or just to decorate the fridge. Whether they realise it or not, every time potential customers go for the milk they will be reminded of you and your business. This strategy is particularly effective for businesses such as electricians, taxi firms or babysitters – services that people know they will need at some point and fast, so are good to have at hand.

So what are you waiting for? Using these golden rules of business card design, you are ready to browse our best designs or create your own.

Winter Home Trends To Keep You Cosy

Plunging temperatures, blustery winds, darkness by 4.00 pm… Winter is most certainly here! Over the next few months, we’re going to be hibernating more and more inside. So it’s time to revamp our living spaces for those short cold days and longer nights. Create a cosy atmosphere with the this year’s trending colours, fabrics and prints to create a space that you’re happy to spend more time (and maybe a snow day!) in.

Bronze Age

Out are the golds and coppers and in with the warming hues of bronze that have fascinated mankind for centuries. Brass is the metallic of the moment, particularly for lighting. Team with natural and clean materials like marble for a cool industrial aesthetic.

Earth Tones

Nature-inspired, earth tones are everywhere this season. Try emeralds, forest greens or teals for a dramatic, luxurious look or lighter hues like sage green for something more serene. These colours look great on larger items like sofas, or introduce with scatter cushions or throws.

According interior gurus, pink is the new black and blush is the new grey. Somewhere in between is millennial pink, the must-have colour of the year. Often dubbed the ‘new neutral’ this hue goes with anything, even chic Scandinavian-style interiors where colour can often be lacking. It can give a warm touch to the more sultry interior tones of navy, black and grey.

Colour Blocking

If you can’t pick one, why not mix and match contrasting colours with the colour blocking trend, originally seen on the catwalk. This playful, graphic style will brighten up any cold winter day.

Vintage Explorer

Maps are an easy way to add a personal touch with wall art. Vintage maps of your hometown or favourite destination are not only beautiful but add real interest to your walls. Team with old botanical illustrations of plants and butterflies for an exploration look.

Illustrated globes are also making are also making a comeback to add that vintage vibe to living and reading spaces. Aged bronze and brass globes are particularly sought after this season.

Knits & Quilts

The winter woolies are not just for winter fashion but for soft furnishings too. This can be as easy as a knitted throw or knitted cushion covers on the sofa. Winter after all is all about cozy and warming luxurious textures. Another way to add texture and comfort to a room is with a classic quilt, and can also show off your personality and sense of fun. Choose from hundreds of custom fabrics on Zazzle to stitch your own a personalised quilt.

Plants are not just for summer! When the leaves outside have withered away, a bit of greenery inside always adds a touch of life and homeliness. Indoor plants are also natural air purifiers and boost your mood and immune system. You don’t even have to have a large space to introduce some plantlife. The photogenic favourite cacti are still trending this year and are easily maintained. They can grow in almost anything – you can use vintage tins or even coffee cups as planters.

12 Days of Ugly Christmas Jumpers

Congratulations! You are invited to take part in the ongoing Christmas craze to sweep our streets every December: the ugly Christmas jumper. Huh? Wait – you don’t know what hideous horror to wear this Xmas? No problem. We have a ‘stylish’ selection to make sure you stand out as the best… amongst the worst-dressed this season (if that even makes sense).

Below you’ll find our favourite novelty Christmas jumpers that are sure to make an impression, good or bad! Whether it is for that funny family feast or you’re rolling to the annual office Christmas party, we have you covered with enough tacky tops for the 12 Days of Christmas.

Cheesy Christmas Jumpers

First up is the cheesy Christmas jumper, a traditional eyesore that goes back decades. Imagine the hand knitted beauties your relatives wore in the 1960s. That’s the look you’re aiming for. Think bright colours, argyle patterns, snowflakes, saccharine slogans and a couple of jolly santas and snowmen. Preferably all of the above combined into one naff piece of knitwear. This holiday sweater is sickly sweet and more is definitely more. Don’t Stop Believin’!

Here is a prime example.

Cute Christmas Jumpers

There is a fine line here. One person’s cheesy could be another’s cute. But the more sentimental folks won’t be able to resist these dachshunds dashing through the snow or jumpers that let you pretend to be a penguin. Adorable or awful? No matter, these cuties work for this wonderful time of year.

Simple but effective, these two sweet seasonal sweaters could kick start an entire Christmas fancy dress outfit. Just add antlers (or flippers).

Funny Christmas Jumpers

Funny Christmas sweaters are a tough nut to crack, but on Zazzle there is a sweatshirt for every sense of humour, from the ‘LOL’ to the ‘just plain weird’. These beauties make super secret santa gifts or outfits for the office party, or even the day after. They say humour is the best medicine, so nurse that headache with a hilarious holiday sweater.

It’s a pun-derful life. The art of the pun may pass some people by, but not you! From the brazenly bad to the seductively sublime, you’ll find more people talking about these novelty Christmas jumpers more than any other. Ho-ho-horrible isn’t it?

DIY Christmas Jumpers

But… but who has the time? Ha! Naïve you. The art of an ugly jumper is that it truly takes no time at all. Especially with Zazzle, where you can create personalised Christmas jumpers in a jiffy. Here are a couple of ideas to mimic that home-made feeling.

Remember those embarrassing Christmas photos you SWORE would never see the light of day? Well guess what – it’s time to take one for the team! Picture yourself as an elf working in the North Pole laboratory. Upload your seasonal snaps. The Nightmare before Christmas is about to begin. Cringe mode activated. Yes, it’s an Elfie selfie…

If you’re not ready to slap your face on your sweater, customise your Christmas clothing with your name or pick a design that hints at your hobby. Whether you’re into fishing or football, golf or guinea pigs, you can show off your passion with some festive fashion. You can even personalise to your politics.

Or take one tasteful typographic sweatshirt, as below, and pimp it up with some naff accessories. You can vary the degree of awfulness to match the occasion. Take it 3D by pinning on personalised badges, Christmas decorations, tinsel, even some flashing fairy lights for a custom Christmas jumper that won’t ever be forgotten.

Built from shatterproof polycarbonate, this clear iPhone case doesn’t scrimp on the protective front either! Believe me, mine has had a fair few tumbles and my phone remains unscathed.

The Wooden Case – CARVED

If you like natural finishes, why not try a wood iPhone 8 case from Carved. Individually made from sustainably sourced real wood (choose your tree from Cherry, Walnut or Maple), each case has its own individual wood grain ensuring a truly one-of a kind finish, while the plastic casing protects the edges from drops and bumps. The plastic lip around the edge also means you can lay your phone face down and show off its beautiful natural finish, without scratching or smudging the screen. The real (but thin) wood panel look particularly good with vintage or rustic designs and is a real conversation starter.
